At Owston Park we set out to maintain and develop our students' natural curiosity by providing them with inspring and memorable science lessons both inside and outside of the classroom. We believe that nature creates awe and wonder, it sparks curiosity and motivation to learn in a unique and hollistic way. We create exciting and memorable science sessions in our Forest School area. Foundation stage ignite childrens' love for science through weekly Forest School sessions. Forest School/ early Science learning has really taken off this half term in Nursery and Reception. Reception - "Muddy Mondays"
Every Monday Reception children explore and learn in our Forest School. The sessions are planned around 'The World' statements of the EYFS Curriculum. Children explore the Forest School and are encouraged to work scientifically; by talking about changes in the natural environment and ways to care for animals, plants and others. Children's resilience, team building and problem solving skills are promoted in these sessions. Children also learn how to manage risk and challenges.

Nursery "Woodland Wednesdays!"
Even in the super-cold weather Nursery have been out exploring and investigating in our Forest School for full Nursery sessions each week. The children have been looking closely at the similarities and differences in the natural environment and taking part in lots of fun activities that inspire them to think scientifically. The sessions equip children with a positive sense of well-being and the personal, social and emotional skills needed to grow into independent, confident individuals.
