Tag-Rugby 2017-2018

On Wednesday 11th April, we competed in the Doncaster Rugby League tag competition at Balby Carr School. We took two teams who played really well. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were a credit to the school with the effort, determination and team work displayed in the games. They finished a creditable 5th and 7th out of eight schools. A big thank you goes to Mrs Warren for helping with, and supporting, the children. Thanks also go to the parents for their support and enthusiasm.

We were invited to the Doncaster champions league tag-rugby competition at Town Fields. The best eight schools took part and our Year 5/6 team did really well and finished 3rd! The children played well, with a lot of very close games and draws.
On 29th of March 20 children from Year 5/6 to competed in the Doncaster school games competition at Wheatley Hills Rugby Club. 2 teams competed against 15 other schools from Doncaster. One of our teams got the final and narrowly lost to Town Fields 2 tries to 1. They played 7 games in their group and won 6 of them and drew the other, so we were undefeated in the group stages. We then played Warmsworth Primary School in the semi-final and won on a golden try rule as we drew the game 1-1 in the normal allocated time for the game, so then it was the first team to score the next try who would win, and luckily this was us.
The children worked really hard all day, but ran out of steam a little bit in the final. The other team had a few rugby players in their team and that made the difference in the final. Our children have been doing rugby in lessons and were the best team on the day in terms of playing as a team. They were a credit to the school, showing good attitude and work rate. Well done to all the players involved.
The other team were excellent and showed game-by-game improvements in terms of understanding the game and learning from each game and taking it in to the next one. Their attitudes were first class to and they kept going even when in a losing position which was good to see.
