Important Information
4S do PE on: Tuesdays 4C do PE on: Mondays
We test times tables on: Thursday
We test spellings on: Friday
Our daily homework is to read to an adult at home and practise our times tables and spellings in order to ensure we make the best possible progress during our time in Year 4. Please let your class teacher know when you have read through the Reading Record.
Multiplication Tables Check
The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a key stage 2 assessment to be taken by pupils at the end of year 4 (in June). The purpose of the MTC is to make sure the times tables knowledge is at the expected level. The MTC is an online test where the pupils are asked 25 questions on times tables 2 to 12. For every question they have 6 seconds to answer and in between the questions there is a 3 second rest. Questions about the 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12 times table come up more often. The questions are generated randomly based on the rules of the MTC.
How to prepare: A good way to prepare is start early and build a daily routine practising the times tables. With regular practise children learn all the questions and gain confidence. We suggest practising 10 to 15 minutes a day for optimal results. We have added a list of links to pages that can help pupils practise the skills they need for the MTC:

In History this week, we’ve been learning all about Boudicca (an ancient queen ๐) who rebelled against the Roman takeover of Britain. We order her life events and then decided whether they were positive or negative ๐๐ฝ๐๐พ
On Friday, we had a immersive Roman day! We looked and handled camp equipment, tried on legionary armour, played Roman games as well as handling a Roman shield, practised marching in time and performed the testudo.
We created a water cycle in a bag. Over the next few days, we will monitor them to see if we can observe any stages of the water cycle.
We were making our own mosaics in art today ๐ผ ๐จ inspired by our topic ‘The Romans’
World Book Day 2023!
Today, in Snappy Science, we investigated the surface tension of water. We found out that we could fill a glass full and still add more water, creating a dome shape due to the water molecules sticking together. When we added salt, the water spilled over the edge straight away due to the change in surface tension ๐งช๐งซ
