Miss Finn is the Design and Technology subject leader.

Miss Finn says:

“Design and Technology is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn practical life skills that can support them throughout their lives. I love seeing pupils develop their creativity, problem-solving skills and confidence through hands-on activities, whether they are creating castles in Year 2,  following recipies in year 3 or taking part in other exciting projects across the school. DT allows children to explore, design, make and evaluate a product all while learning skills that are meaningful, memorable and fun.”

The Design and Technology Curriculum at Owston Park

Design and Technology is an inspiring and practical subject which encourages children to learn to think and work creatively to solve problems. Through a variety of creative and practical activities, we teach the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in a process of designing and making. DT ensures children develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world. They build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users and critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others. It plays a fundamental part of children learning how to take risks, become resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. Through the evaluation of past and present Design and Technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.
