Supporting Pupils and Families

Supporting Children and Families

At Owston Park Primary Academy, our commitment to Community, Integrity, Kindness, Aspiration and Curiosity shapes the way we support every child and family. We believe that children achieve their very best when home and school work together in a positive, trusting and collaborative partnership.

Universal Support for All Children and Families

We are proud to offer a range of support and opportunities that are available to all children and families within our school community. These include:

  • An open-door approach to communication, where parents and carers are encouraged to speak with staff about any questions, concerns or successes.

  • High-quality teaching that inspires, challenges and supports all learners to achieve their potential.

  • Adaptive teaching and reasonable adjustments to ensure every child can access learning and participate fully in school life.

  • A nurturing, inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and respected.

  • A strong focus on children's emotional wellbeing, personal development and sense of belonging.

  • Regular opportunities for parents and carers to engage with school life through workshops, events, celebrations and volunteering opportunities.

  • A commitment to listening to families and valuing their views.

  • Opportunities for parents and carers to become actively involved in their child's education through the activities outlined in our Parent Opportunity Planner.

By fostering a culture of kindness, curiosity and aspiration, we create an environment where children develop the confidence to explore, learn and succeed.

Targeted Support When Additional Help Is Needed

We understand that some children and families may require additional support at different times in their lives. Through our dedicated Safeguarding and Inclusion Team, we can provide targeted support and guidance to help families overcome challenges and access the right services.

Support may include:

  • Advice and support from our safeguarding and inclusion staff.

  • Early Help assessments and family support.

  • Access to Solihull Parenting Programmes and other parenting support.

  • Emotional wellbeing support for children and families.

  • Attendance and pastoral support.

  • Assistance with navigating and accessing specialist services.

Where appropriate, we work closely with a range of external professionals and agencies, including:

  • School Nursing Services

  • Speech and Language Therapy Services

  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

  • Educational Psychologists

  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Services

  • Family support and welfare agencies

  • Other specialist health, education and social care professionals

Our approach is always rooted in integrity, ensuring that we work honestly, respectfully and collaboratively with families whilst maintaining children's best interests at the heart of every decision.

As a community, we believe that no family should feel alone when facing challenges. By working together with kindness, understanding and shared aspiration, we aim to provide the right support at the right time, helping every child and family to thrive, achieve and look towards a bright future with confidence.

Please contact Mrs L. Stratford via the school office if you require any additional support.
